I have worked for 18 years in the refrigeration trade. I started to work with installation of heat pumps during summers while studying at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. During semesters, I worked with service of heat pumps in evenings and on weekends. After finishing my masters, I continued work for the same company starting with design work, commissioning of plants and guiding service technicians with trouble shooting. My work later became more oriented towards research and development. This included development of direct evaporation heat pumps, heat pumps adopted for the directly electrically heated houses, recharging of the bedrock with solar panels for heat pump system and the development of the patented Refrigeration System Analyser "ETM 2000".
Between 1989 and may 1999, I worked in managing positions in the AKA/Tempcold group which is one of the leading wholesalers and distributors in the Scandinavian countries. During this period, the group increased its market shares in Sweden significantly. I was responsible for the design, commissioning of AKA's filling station for refrigerants in Norrköping (1989-90) and for establishing a production facility for custom specified refrigeration units/chillers (1995-1999). This included establishing the product range and building up a customer base. This business became AKA Nordic Ref AB for which I was managing director 1997-1999. During the years in the AKA/Temcold Group, I was responsible for the introduction of alternative refrigerants, HFC as well as hydrocarbons. I developed a patented flushing method that made it possible to change the oil more cost-effectively than with the established oil change method. The AKA FORCE flushing units have so far sold more than 1500 units in 10 countries. I have given a large number of presentations in all the Nordic countries and also at a number of international conferences.
In 1999 I started my own consultancy organisation Berglof Refrigeration Technology Ltd and have focused in the segments listed below:
A. Long term development work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) within several sectors such as for example heat pumps, telecom cooling and dehumidifiers.
B. Support with feasibility studies, trouble shooting, damage reports and technical expertise on heat pumps, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems to general consultants, equipment owners and insurance companies.
B. ODS Phase out projects in the developing countries.
C. Developing of ClimaCheck a software for on site analysing of refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump processes.
